Given:-

  • Scale of a map is 1:5000000.
  • They are 4.5 cm apart on the map.

To find:-

  • Actual distance between the two towns.

Solution:-

Here,

  • Scale = 1:5000000
  • Apart on the map = 4.5 cm

Then,

⇛ Apart on the map × Scale

⇛ 4.5 × 5000000

⇛ 22,500,000 cm

We know that,

  • 1 km = 1000 m

⇛ 1000 m = 100 cm

⇛ 22,500,000 cm = 225 km

Hence,

  • the actual distance between the two towns is 225 km.

Therefore,

  • Option (d) is correct.
