Step-by-step explanation:

Question:-

The score in Mathematics test (out of 25) of 15 students are as follows:-

5,16,25,20,24,12,20,19,25,23,20,09,20,15,10

Find the mode and median of the data.

Are they same ?

Answer:-

Firstly let's arrange the data :-

5,9,10,12,15,16,19,20,20,20,20,23,24,25,25

i. Find the mode.

:- In order to find Mode,we have to observe that which number has more frequency (repeated most times) in the data.

We can see that:-

20 is repeated four times.

25 is repeated two times.

This concludes that 20 has the most frequency in the data.

Mode = 20

ii. Find the median.

:- Firstly,we have to count the total number of terms in the data and we know that there are 15 students, then the frequency is = 15 (odd)

For odd frequency, the formula of median is:-

 = Median \: = \: ( \frac{n}{2} +1) term\\ \\ Then,inserting \: the \: formula \: according \: to \: the \: sum:- \\ \\ = Median \: = \: ( \frac{15}{2} + 1)term \: [Where \: n \: is \: the \: frequency] \\ \\ Median \: = \: ( \frac{16}{2} )term \\ \\ Median \: = \: 8th \: term \: = \: 20 \: (ans)

Thus,we have seen that Mode = 20, Median = 20

So,yes both are the same.
