1. The scores in mathematics test (out of 25) of 15 students is as follows:
19, 25, 23, 20, 9, 20, 15, 10, 5, 16, 25, 20, 24, 12, 20
Find the mode and median of this data. Are they same?
2. The runs scored in a cricket match by 11 players is as follows:
6, 15, 120, 50, 100, 80, 10, 15, 8, 10, 15
Find the mean, mode and median of this data. Are the three same?
3. The weights (in kg.) of 15 students of a class are:
38, 42, 35, 37, 45, 50, 32, 43, 43, 40, 36, 38, 43, 38, 47
(i) Find the mode and median of this data.
(ii) Is there more than one mode?

Answer:

Answer:

explanation

mode:it is the most common number of the data set.

median:it is the middle number of the set numbers.

mean:the average of the data set

mode and median are simple as given in the explanation i hope you can solve mode and median by yourselves

Step-by-step explanation:

in a number of data set like

10+15+30+10+5

mean is =sum of all numbers÷total number

=70÷5(here 5 comes from the numbers given)

mean=14

mode=10( there are two 10,so it is the most commom number)

median=30(the middle of the numbers)

i hope you can solve your problems using these examples

if the most common number are more than one and same then there can be more then one mode

Ques:3 Arranging data in ascending order

32,35,36,37,38,38,38,40,42,43,43,43,45,47

(i)mode

mode is maximum occuring observation

since 38 and 43 both occurs 3 times,

Both of them are mode

mode= 38,34

Median

number of observations= 15

since n is odd

median= (n+1/2) th observation

(15+1/2) th = (16/2)th = 8th observation

=40

median=40

(ii)

yes there are 2 modes
