1) The sum of 2 consecutive numbers is 23. What is the smaller number?One brand of computer scanner can read 74 documents per hour while a second scanner can read 92 documents per hour. How many hours will it take for both scanners together to read 747 documents?

1.) First Question :-

Let one number be x

Let other number be x+1

A.T.Q.

x+x+1 = 23

2x + 1 = 23

2x = 23-1

2x = 22

x = 22/2

x = 11

So, the numbers are

x = 11

x+1 = 11+1 = 12

2.) Second Question :-

First scanner = 74 documents/hour

Second scanner = 92 documents/hour

Time taken for 1 scanner to read 747 documents

= 747/74

= 10 hours (approx)

Time taken for 2 scanner to read 747 documents

= 747/92

= 8 hours (approx)
