Find the net distance covered by the object in the time interval between
t = 0 to t = 8 sec. Also find the displacement in time t = 0 to t = 10 sec.

Explanation:

  • the distance covered by the object is actually equal to the area which is covered under the graph from the time interval 0 7 to the time interval 8 second. This will be an addition because the displacement is a scalar quantity.
  • For the first interval from 0 to 6 second, the distance is equal to

\frac{1}{2} x6x20 = 60 meter

  • for the second time interval from 6 second to 8 second the distance is equal to
  • \frac{1}{2} x 20x 2= 20meter
  • So the total distance covered is equal to 80 meter
