There are too many versions on the date and site of the Cry. Pio Valenzuela had various Cry variations. As a result of his assertions' inconsistencies, We have much less trust in his versions.
- The Cry has indeed been credited to several times and locations by participants and historians. The Cry, according to Lt. Olegario Diaz of such Spanish Guardia civil, occurred at Balintawak on 25 Aug 1896.
- The event occurred in the last week of Aug 1896 near Kangkong, Balintawak, according to Teodoro Kalaw's 1925 book of The Filipino Revolution.
- This dispute continues unresolved even now. The so-known Cry is believed to have happened in Balintawak, although some assert that it actually occurred in Pugad Lawin.
- Nevertheless, there are many versions to examine while establishing the genuine time and location of the Cry. This problematic "Cry of Pugad Lawin" of Pio Valenzuela, Santiago Alvarez's "The Cry of Bahay Toro," Gregoria de Jesus' rendition of the "First Cry," or Guillermo Masangkay's "The Cry of Balintawak" from Guillermo Masangkay are one of them.
