Let the volume of the water be x l.

since 56 l of water was drained

the volunme of water left will be

(x - 56) l

since volume of water is decreased by 8%

therefore;

(x - 56) = (x - 0.08 x)

x - 56 = 0.92 x

x - 0.92 x = 56

0.08 x = 56

x = 700 l

thus water left in tank= 700 - 56

= 644 l
