Therefore,

Sonu's present age will be = '2x' years

Reena's age 3 years ago = 'x-3' years

Sonu's age 3 years ago = '2x-3' years

2x-3 = 5(x-3)

2x-3 = 5x-15

2x-5x = 3-15 [on transposition]

-3x = -12

x = -12/-3

Hence,

x = 4

Hence,

Reena's present age = 4 years

Sonu's present age = 2x years

= 2*4 years
