Given :

  • Total Number of Cards = 20

To Find :

  • Probability of getting a ticket that is a multiple of 4 .

Solution :

\longmapsto\tt{Total\:Outcomes=20}

\longmapsto\tt{Favourable\:Outcomes=5\:(4,8,12,16,20)}

\longmapsto\tt{Probability=\frac{No.\:of\:Fav.\:Outcomes}{Total\:No.\:of\:Outcomes}}

\longmapsto\tt{\cancel\dfrac{5}{20}}

\longmapsto\tt\bf{\dfrac{1}{4}}

So , Probability of getting a ticket that is a multiple of 4 is 1/4 ..

Tickets numbered from 1 to 20 are mixed up. If a ticket is drawn at random, then the probability

that the ticket drawn has a number which is a multiple of 4

 \small \bf \: probability \: of \: multiple \: of \: 4

Multiple of 4 under 20 = 4,8,12,16,20

Multiple of 4 under 20 = 4,8,12,16,20 There are 5 multiple of 4 under 20

Total number = 20

probability \:  =  \frac{</strong><strong>multi</strong><strong>ple</strong><strong> </strong><strong>\</strong><strong>:</strong><strong>of</strong><strong> </strong><strong>\</strong><strong>:</strong><strong> </strong><strong>4</strong><strong> </strong><strong>}</strong><strong>{</strong><strong>total</strong><strong> </strong><strong>\</strong><strong>:</strong><strong> </strong><strong>no</strong><strong> \: of \: </strong><strong>tickets</strong><strong>}

 =  \frac{20}{5}

 =  \frac{1}{4}
