  • It is used for sterilisation of water.
  • Adverse effects:- It can cause health hazards like skin cancer if our body is exposed to the radiation for a long period.

2) X-ray:-

  • Uses:- It is used for detection of fracture in bones, teeth etc. and for diagnostic purposes.
  • It is used in crystallography.
  • It is used by the detective agencies to detect concealed precious metals.
  • Adverse effects:- It can damage living cell if hard X-ray fall on them.

3) Gamma ray:-

  • Uses:- It is used in medical science to kill cancer cell.
  • It is used in industry to check welding.
  • Adverse effects:- It can cause immense biological damage in human body.
