mangal pandey was a great freedom fighter who insisted on prevention of production of greased cartridges as it contained skin of cows and fat of pigs..
as cows were sacred to hindu people and pigs were profane to muslim people..
this appeal was made to british government who at first refused this humble request but later the appeal was accepted due to pressure of mangal pandey and other fighters..
