1. When the sound waves hit the eardrum, it vibrates and the signal is sent through the auditory nerve to the brain. This process is also called hearing.

3.(a) Amplitude :
The maximum displacement of an object from its central position is called Amplitude
Frequency of waves :
The number of oscillations per second is called the frequency of waves. Frequency is expressed in hertz (Hz).
(b) Stringed instrument :
The instruments which produce sound when the strings of it are vibrated is called stringed instruments.
Percussion instruments :

Measures taken for noise pollution :

5. When we make noise in a vacuum we may not be able to hear sound, this prove that sound needs a medium to travel. This could be a solid liquid or gas. The best medium is solid.
