Answer:

Being a “better person” is very much a choice: a choice of who you want to associate with. It’s a popularity and conformity contest, and a function of being a social species. It only makes sense from the point of view of “social good”. But once you live in a society, you want yourself to do well, but you also need the society to do well in order to do well.

What defines a good person is about the values you hold and would like to share with others. Each society usually agrees on a set of universal values that it expects its members to conform to, and the government “excludes” those who refuse to conform (often by physically imprisoning them).

Being a better person means you benefit others in meaningful ways. Societies are built on cooperation, and cooperation means you are willing to pay a cost and share your spoils with others. Be it doing the dishes for your mom, volunteering at a charity event, creating something that people love, or saving lives. Being a bad person means exploiting cooperation, and not giving back.

You have two general strategies open to you:

1- Be an openly “bad person” (pure strategy), meaning you exploit others openly for your own benefit. This is a high-risk, potentially high reward strategy (needs a lot of luck). Imagine someone like the North Korean leader. You don’t conform but make others conform to your desires by force. This works for you if you win, but no one else. So if you don’t win, you will anger all the others.

2- Being a “good person with some secrets” (mixed strategy) which is almost everyone. You will conform to some things and accept some values, and pretend to accept others, when you really aren’t (you lie, and exploit others when you are not caught). Societies punish lying severely to increase your conformity to common values.

If the common values are good ones (like cooperation), the society benefits from enforcing them, and you benefit from living in a society that functions well because it enforces them. However, in many societies today, no “good” man can sleep with other men. In many societies in the past, “good” men happily owned slaves. The more such non-sensical rules exist in a society, the more lies and cheats have to be used by people, and hence the less functional your society. This hurts you directly.

Being a good person is about picking friends and idols. They will reward you if you conform to their values, which often means helping them or their cause. On the flipside, the more friends you have, the more help you get.

Answer:

Nurturing is the act of encouraging, nourishing and caring for someone or something. Providing encouragement and support to a foster child is an example of nurturing. we should nurture other people who are depressed or going through a tough time so they are motivated with positive thinking. this not only helps the distressed person to feel positive but you too feel proud and do what a human should do to another human. Not only them but encouraging the young generation for their bright future helps the world to be better day by day.
