1.
What advantage over an aquatic organism does a terrestrial organism
have with regard to obtaining oxygen for respiration?
2.What are the different ways in which glucose is oxidised to provide
energy in various organisms?
3.How is oxygen and carbon dioxide transported in human beings?
4.How are the lungs designed in human beings to maxiinise the area for
exchange of gases?
Anwer this quick..
Answers
Answer:
1. In water there is less dissolved oxygen as compared to Atmosphere. Therefore aquatic animals breath faster to get enough amount of oxygen to survive but on the other hand, terrestrial animals breath slower than aquatic because there is much amount of oxygen in the atmosphere.
2. The ways in which glucose is Oxidised are :-
a. In the presence of Oxygen :- In this the 3 carbon molecular ( pyruvate ) is breakdown to give energy in a huge amount, carbon dioxide and water.
b. In the absence of Oxygen :- This occurs in Yeast. the glucose or pyruvate is breakdown to give Ethanol, Carbon dioxide and less amount of Energy
c. In lack of Oxygen :- This happen in our muscles when we are tired and when our body energy needs are not fulfilled by respiration. thus in our muscles in the lack of oxygen the pyruvate breakdown into lactic acid and in little amount of energy.
3. oxygen is transported by the haemoglobin whereas carbon is transported through blood by dissolving in this..
4. In our lungs there are small balloon like structure called Alveoli, these expand the chest when we breath which maximize the area. Also Alveoli are responsible for the exchange of gases..
some other knowledge i want to share :- in our body when we breath the oxygen from our lungs are transported to the heart and then to the body, but not all the oxygen in our lungs are transported some of them are saved to use ..and when we exhale carbon dioxide the saved oxygen is used to maintain the regularty of the process...
