significance: it provide the path of evolution and lie midway between the two groups that is they have features of both the groups of organisms. these confirm evolution of amphibians from fishes; mammals from reptiles arthropods and molluscs from the annelids.

answer for 2: flow of energy in an ecosystem is unidirectional because the energy transferred from one trophic level to next trophic level cannot be reverted back to previous trophic level. the energy once transferred from producers to primary consumers cannot be taken back by producers. similarly, it goes for all the other trophic levels. thus flow of energy is unidirectional. hope this helps u!!!
