Hey mate here is ur answer:

Dominant traits are those traits which Express themselves in heterozygous and homozygous conditions.

Recessive traits are those traits which are not able to express themselves in the presence of its contrasting trait but is able to express itself in homozygous conditions.

Yes it is almost seen that inherited traits are expressed in the next generation because these are the traits which are present in this reproductive cells.

But sometimes due to any mutation or faulty DNA replication some inherited traits are not passed onto the next generation.

You may take the example of mendelian experiment of two pea plants having two contrasting characters.
