The best climatic conditions for cotton plants to grow would be a place with a hot and humid temperature . The soil in the place where it grows can be acidic in nature with a pH scale of 5.5 , for the cotton's well being ( though it isn't always necessary ) . Deccan plateau in the southern part of India has a good harvest of cotton ( especially in the summers ) , due to its humid and hot climatic conditions . Hence an area needs to have a humid and hot climate in order for a cotton plant to grow .
