SHO (Station House Officer) is officer in-charge of police station. He supervises the police station activities and is responsible for making law and order in his region. In ranking he ranks above SI ( sub inspector) and below DSP ( Deputy Police Superintendent).

Duties of Station House Officer :-

1.) SHO alone owns the responsibility of law and order in his region.

2.) SHO arranges beats and patrols in his jurisdiction.

3.) SHO Keep the surveillance power up on anti-social elements.

4.) Maintaining discipline and good advertising in his station limits.

5.) SHO perform criminal investigations in India and he also attends court in behalf of the police station.
