1)Friction causes wear and tear in machinery parts and also cause wastage of electricity and energy. Friction causes moving objects to stop or slow down. Friction produces heat causing wastage of energy in machines. Friction causes wear and tear of moving parts of macinery, soles of shoes, etc.

2)The biggest disadvantage of friction is wear and tear that happens as a result of friction. Wear is the gradual removal of material at solid surfaces occurring as a result of damage caused by friction and/or corrosion. Wear leads to loss of functionality. Tribology is the study of wear of materials.
