The two important issues in development are:-
1. Education quality:-
Education is the key to the development of a nation. Education increases the efficiency and productivity of manpower. It boosts human capital formation. Human capital formation means the population attaining knowledge and using it effectively for their development.
Problems of education in India are:-
- Low budget and funds:- Educational institutions lack proper infrastructure, educational equipment, science labs and libraries which becomes a drawback to achieving desired results and outcomes.
- Expensive higher education:- In India where a large population of people are suffering from poverty, it becomes difficult for them to educate their children in higher schools and colleges where the fees for them are unaffordable. Universities and technical education have become expensive in India.
- Illiteracy rate:- In India illiteracy rate is of India is very high. Many illiterates still believe that education is not important and they don't invest in their children's education.
2. High population and poverty:-
Population explosion and poverty have a great impact on a country's development. Population and poverty are directly and indirectly connected to each other. Rapid population growth reduces per capita income growth which reduces the living standard of the individuals. In India huge population is suffering from poverty; they are unable to satisfy basic needs like food, shelter and clothing.
Problems of population explosion are:-
- Depletion of natural resources:- Due to overpopulation natural resources like coal, petrol, fresh water and forests are draining. The depletion of these natural resources will decline the quality of life.
- Rise in unemployment:- Due to overpopulation, the employment rates decrease because the availability of jobs is limited and the people applying for the job are very high which leads to unemployment. Lack of unemployment leads to poverty.
- Adverse climate changes:- Due to overpopulation vehicles and industries are more which in turn leads to an increase in pollution. The pollution emitted from energy resources like coal, petrol and electricity contributes to pollution which degrades the environment causing adverse climate conditions like acid rain.
