Cultural diversity in a nation leads to societal instability, the societal instability may not only be affected by within nation or diversity but also diversity between a nation and it's neighbors.

We also have different diversities like religion, linguistic, ethnic.  Linguistic and diversity has a negative effect on the economic performance for instance  as we show that it is largely through this economic mechanism that it affects societal instability.

The higher the linguistic diversity among nations in region the less stable the nation.

Nations which differs linguistically from their neighbors are also less stable, however, religious diversity between neighboring nations has the opposite effect, reducing the societal instability.
