a) 1) The hydrochloric acid present in the gastric acid helps in the proper digestion of foods

2) Hydrochloric acid is the main component of the gastric juices produced in the stomach and it maintains the stomach pH of 1 to 2 by acidifying the stomach contents.

b) 1) bile increases the absorption of fat

2) It also makes the acidic food coming from the stomach alkaline, so as to enable the action of pancreatic enzymes.
