For basic, water is made of hydrozen (H+)and hydroxide ion (OH-). They generally stays separately. When you pour salt in it which contains sodium chloride (NaCl), the remaining particles(Na, Cl) stay as positive (Na+) and negative ion (Cl-) So, if you put an anod( which is connected to the positive part of a battery) then the negative ion(Cl-) will be attracted to it and be flowed by the attractive energy.... Also the positive ion (Na+) will be attracted to the cathod which is connected to the negative part of the battery. In a word, the particles will not be as a particle rather it will remain as an ion in a solution and be attracted to its opposite charge and be flown by the attractive energy....
