Answer:

A concentrated acid is an acid which is in either pure form or has a high concentration. ... A dilute acid is that in which the concentration of the water mixed in the acid is higher than the concentration of the acid itself.

Answer:

_______ANSWER___

1) A concentrated acid is a pure form of acid ,which has zero or negligible amount of water mixed with it. However. it is very dangerous as it is corrosive and can burn the skin if spilled.

On the contrary, a dilute acid is one which has high or considerable amount of water mixed in it. Hence ,it us less harmful.

2). ACID : It is a donor of protons.

It produces an H+ ion when mixed with water.

Acid turns blue litmus paper red.

BASE : It is an acceptor of protons.

It produces an OH- ion when mixed with water.

Bases turn red litmus paper blue.

3) No,dry HCL cannot change the colour of litmus paper.

Reason : The color of blue litmus paper is changed to red by H+ ions, and an acid can produce H+ ion only in the presence of water.

4) Fill in the blanks :--

1. Acids on ionization give H+ ions.

2.Color of ph paper in cold drinks is red.

3. Royal water is a mixture of

nitric acid and hydrochloric acid.

4. Bee sting contains formic acid.

5. ph of gastric juice is mild acidic.

5) Acids produce H+ ions in aqueous solution. When electricity is passed through the solution ,the H+ ions reach the cathode and pick up an electron from the cathode and form hydrogen gas.Hence, an acid solution conducts electricity.

6) One similarity between acids and bases is that All of them react with water and are good conductors of electricity.

7) Efflorescence is the loss of water of crystallization from a hydrated salt on exposure to the atmosphere . One compound which shows efflorescence is gypsum (CaSO4).
