Answer:

1. When Miss Honey asked Matilda to recite the two-times table, Matilda started reciting the table smoothly and confidently. However, when she got to 12 twice is 24, she didn't stop there! She went on to 13 twice, 14 twice and didn't stop until Miss Honey asked her to.

2. Matilda said that she simply put down a certain number in her head and multiplied it by the other number. She couldn't explain it, but she just didn't find it very difficult to multiply one number by the other. She thought that if a calculator could do it, why couldn't she.

3. Miss Honey pretended to address the whole class and asked them about their reading and spelling. From there, she subtly tried to explore the wonders of Matilda and her little mind.

4. The fact that Matilda was so fluent in Math and English, and yet hardly seemed to acknowledge it startled Miss Honey the most. She found it fascinating that Matilda was so ahead of everyone her age, but never showed any sign of showing off or rudeness.

The answers may be slightly incorrect, but I hope they help you anyway!
