• It introduced the english language in India and exposed Indians to the world.

• It reduced the caste system.

The demerits of introducing western education in India:-

• Mass and education of women were neglected.

• It created a gulf between educated and masses ( common people ).

• The traditional system of education and the vernacular languages were declined.
