Answer:

ELECTROVALENT BOND:

An electrovalent bond is a chemical bond formed between oppositely charged ions.

FORMATION OF COMPONENTS:

The atomic number for Sodium is 11 hence the Electronic configuration will be 2, 8, 1 while the atomic number of chlorine is 17 and the electronic configuration will be 2, 8, 7 on mixing the two to the reaction will take place as chlorine has one Negative Ion while sodium has one positive ion and form Nacl

Na(2,8,1) +CL(2,8,7) → Na(2,8) +CL(2,8,8)

Atomic number for oxygen is 8 Hence configuration will be 2, 6. So oxygen has to negative ions and sodium has one positive ion and the reaction full form Na2O

Na(2,8,1) +O(2,6) → 2Na(2,8) +O(2,8)

The atomic number of magnesium is 12 and the electronic configuration will be 2, 8, 2 now when it reacts with oxygen it forms MgO Since magnesium has two positive ions and oxygen has two negative ions

Mg (2, 8, 2) +O (2, 6) → Mg (2, 8) +O (2, 8)

Reaction of magnesium and chlorine will form MgCl2 since magnesium has two positive ions and chlorine has one Negative Ion

Mg(2,8,2) + CL(2,8,7) → Mg (2,8) + 2 Cl(2,8,8)
