Question 1:

Atomicity refers to the total number of atoms present in a molecule.

Atomicity of the following molecules:

1. CuSO4 : 6

2. HCl : 2

3. PbNO3 : 5

4. NaCl : 2

5. H2CO3 : 6

6. S8 : 8

Question 2:

Water molecule has the following atoms:

2 Hydrogen atoms and 1 Oxygen atom.

So, required ratio is :

H : O = 2 : 1

Question 3:

Molecular mass is total mass of a molecule constituted by the individual atoms of that molecule.

NaCl : 23 + 35.5 = 58.5 g/mol

CuSO4 : 64 + 32 + (4×16) = 160 g/mol

H2CO3 : (2×1) + 12 + (16×3) = 62 g/mol

H2O : (2×1) + 16 = 18 g/mol.

Hope It Helps.

Answer:

1) Atomicity of :

  • CuSO₄ = 6
  • HCl = 2
  • Pb(NO₃)₂ = 9
  • NaCl = 2
  • H₂CO₃ = 6

2) Ratio of atoms = H : O

                            = 2 : 1

3) Molecular mass of :

  • NaCl = 58.5g
  • CuSO₄ = 159g
  • H₂CO₃ = 62g
  • H₂O = 18g

Explanation:

1) Atomicity is defined as the total number of atoms in a molecule

Hence,

Atomicty of CuSO₄

= Number of C-atoms + Number of S-atoms + Number of O-atoms

= 1 + 1 + 4

= 6

Atomicity of HCl

= Number of H-atoms +  Number of Cl-atoms

= 1 + 1

= 2

Atomicity of Pb(NO₃)₂

= Number of Pb-atoms +  Number of N-atoms +  Number of O-atoms

= 1 + 2 + 6

= 9

Atomicity of NaCl

= Number of Na-atoms +  Number of Cl-atoms

= 1 + 1

= 2

Atomicity of H₂CO₃

= Number of H-atoms +  Number of C-atoms +  Number of O-atoms

= 2 + 1 + 3

= 6

2) We know that, chemical formula of water = H₂O

Number of atoms of H = 2

Number of atoms of O = 1

Hence,

Ratio of atoms = H : O

                        = 2 : 1

3) Molecular mass of :

NaCl = Mass of Na + Mass of Cl

          = 23 + 35.5

          = 58.5g

CuSO₄ = Mass of Cu + Mass of S + Mass of O

           = 63 + 32 + 4*16

           = 63 + 32 + 64

           = 159g

H₂CO₃ = Mass of H + Mass of C + Mass of O

          = 1*2 + 12 + 16*3

          = 2 + 12 + 48

          = 62g

H₂O = Mass of H + Mass of O

      = 1*2 + 16

      = 2 + 16

      = 18g
