Ans.:(i) The change in size and/ or shape of a body
when it is subjected to an external force is called
deformation.
(ii) The external force responsible for producing
deformation is called deforming force.
(iii) There are three basic types deformation :
(a) The deforming force produces a change in
length of the object. (b) The deforming force
produces a change in volume. (c) The deforming
force produces a change in the shape the body.​
