1. Lateral inversion is a phenomenon in which left appears to be right and vice versa. It is due to direction that light follows when it strikes a reflecting surface, generally a mirror.

2. shadow is a reflection of the body ,when the light falls on the object and the reflection is formed on a surface

Characteristics of a shadow :

1) It depends on shape of the object. The shadow increases and decreases in the ratio same as the shape of the object.

2)It depends on source of light whether it is plane parallel  rays or spherical.

3) It depends on position of the object whether the object is at infinite or finite distance.

4) It depends on the position of source of light.If the source of light is kept closer to the object the shadow will be smaller and if it farther then shadow will be longer.
