Soil is a naturally ocurring consolidated minerals or organic matter at least 10cm think and its capable of supporting plant growth.its mostly formed by weathering, biological activities such as the actions of plant root, deforestation by man , etc.

A parents material develop cracks and weakens due to physical weathering , plant roots find their way into the cracks and expand the crack and break it down in to particles …chemical weathering the sets in disolve the particles and causes further break down . plants leaves fall as litter to add organic matter to it , then soil microbes get into action.
