Basicity of an acid refers to the number of replacable hydrogen present in an acid.
For example
- Hydrochloric acid (HCl) has a
- basicity of 1
- Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) has a basicity of 2.
- Nitric acid (HNO3)has a basicity of 1.
- Carbonic acid (H2CO3)has a basicity of 2.
- Acetic acid (CH3COOH) has a basicity of 1.
- Hydrobromic acid (HBr) has a basicity of 1.

Basicity of 1=Monobasic acid.
Basicity of 2=Dibasic acid.
