The transfer of heat from one place to another in straight line without heating the intervening medium is called radiation.

Example : Electromagnetic radiation and energy radiated by electromagnetic waves is called radiant energy.

\longrightarrow Electromagnetic radiation does not require any medium and it will travel with the speed of light when the thermal radiation falls on other body, it is partially reflected and partially observed. The amount of heat absorbed by body depends on colour of the body.

The equatorial and polar regions of earth recieve unequal solar heat. Air at earth surface near the equator is hot, while the air at poles is cool due to convection. The air at the equatorial surface gets rises and move towards the poles, descending and streaming towards equators. The rotation of Earth modifies the convection current and this is known as trade wind.

Answer:

The trade winds are winds that reliably blow east to west just north and south of the equator. The winds help ships travel west, and they can also steer storms such as hurricanes, too.
