State Snell's law of refraction of light. II. Statement: It states that “The ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction is constant for a given pair of media and given wavelength of light.” ... The constant in law is called refractive index and denoted by the letter 'n'.

Two laws of refraction are as follows.

The first law of refraction states that the incident ray, refracted ray and the normal all lie in the same plane.

The second law of refraction states that the ratio of sine of angle of incidence to the sign of angle of refraction is constant to the interface of any two given medium. The second law is also called Snell’s law.
