Hello mate here is your answer.

1 ) What is Resonance? Answer:-Acoustic resonance is a phenomenon where acoustic systems amplify sound waves whose frequency matches one of its own natural frequencies of vibration (its resonance frequencies).

2 ) Why is there need of Resonance structures?
Answer:- A resonance form is another way of drawing a Lewis dot structurefor a given compound. Equivalent Lewis structures are called resonance forms. They are used when there is more than one way to place double bonds and lone pairs on atoms.

3 ) Draw the structure of So3 2-
Answer:- See the attachment

Hope it helps you.

PrincessStargirl: The stable compounds have less than eight electrons around an atom in the molecule. The third violation to the octet rule is found in those compounds with more than eight electrons assigned to their valence shell.
PrincessStargirl: Sulphur shares 2 electrons with each of the two oxygen atoms so it receives 4 electrons in return as well. Adding on to the original 6 electrons it had, that would be 10.
PrincessStargirl: Ok?

1) Resonance can be summed up as : when a molecule cannot be represented by a single structure but its characteristic properties can be described by two or more than two structure, then the actual structure is said to be a resonance of these structures.

2) need of resonance : In sum cases the molecules of all of their properties cannot be explained by a single structure. the molecules can be represented by two or more structure so in this case there is a need for resonance.

3)structure of so3^2- is attached up..
