1. Dates are important, as they note when certain events happened. This is very important because history is recorded chronologically. It helps to know that one event happened before another event so that one can examine the relationship between events. Dates also serve to mark periods in history.

2. The problem with the periodisation of Indian History that James Mill offers is that he divided the Indian history into three periods – Hindu, Muslim and British. However, the periodisation of Indian History on the basis of religion is not feasible for many reasons.

3. british preserved the official document because they thought that the act of writing was very important to run and govern a country in a better way. they believed that it would help them to systemic the reports and official document and in this way they can be used further.
