Water and minerals travel upwards through the xylem, while phloem transport synthesized food to other parts of the plant.

The movement of water and other nutrients from one part of a plant to another is called translocation. Water gets absorbed by osmosis while minerals by active transport.

The need of transport of water in plants bcoz without water plants can't make food and as water is very essential in the process of photosynthesis and water also contains minerals that plants need and when roots absorbs that water and minerals it transport into stems , leaves , flowers and other parts of plants . So, if water will not transferred in the other parts of plant they will be dry. So, Transport of water into plants is very essential.
