1)n May 1994, Mandela was inaugurated as South Africa's first black president, a position he held until 1999. The qualities you could use to describe him are, determined, smart, kind, thoughtful, strong, etc. He was a man of peace. He had a powerful presence and disarmed enemies with his smile.
2)He was the first non-white head of state in South African history, as well as the first to take office following the dismantling of the apartheid system and the introduction of multiracial democracy. Mandela was also the oldest head of state in South Africa's history, taking office at the age of seventy-five.
3)Gandhi took the religious principle of ahimsa (doing no harm) common to Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism and turned it into a non-violent tool for mass action. He used it to fight not only colonial rule but social evils such as racial discrimination and untouchability as well.
