Keshav was eagerly waiting for the three eggs to hatch into three small chicken but the eggs were broken and were on the floor, which made Keshav pale and gloomy.  

Explanation:

Keshav had tried to cushion the eggs and moved them. His mother told them that once the eggs are touched, they get tainted and the birds do not hatch them. So, they would have broken the eggs.  

That is the reason why a yellow slimy liquid oozed out from the eggs when Keshav and Shyama saw it.
