Solution

Given,

  • what number must be added to the ratio 7 : 5 so that the ratio become 5:4

To find ,

  • we have to find here the number

Now,

  • Let the number be "x"
  • So, 7:5 = 7/5 and inter question it is given that what number should be added to the ratio 7:5 to become 5:4 .
  • So, the equation will be like this ; 7+x/5+x = 5/4

now solving this we get ;

 =  >  \frac{7 + x}{5 + x}  =  \frac{5}{4}

 =  > 4(7 + x) = 5(5 + x)

 =  > 28 + 4x = 25 + 5x

 =  > 28 - 25 = 5x - 4x

 =  > 3 = x

So, the number 3 will be added to the ratio to get 5:4 .
