Answer:

1) -5/8+ x= 5/9

x= 5/9 +5/8

x= 85/72

ans:- 85/72

2) (2/3 + 3/5 ) + x = -2/15

19/15 + x = -2/15

x= -2/15 -19/15

x= -21/15

x = -7/5

ans:- -7/5

Answer:

1) let x be added to -5/8 so as to get 5/9

therefore,

-5/8 + x = 5/9

(-5+8x)/8 =5/9

(-5+8x) =40/9

8x = 40/9+5

8x = (40+45)/9

8x = 85/9

x =85/72

Hence, 85/72 should be added to -5/8 so as to get 5/9.

2.) let y be added to( 2/3 + 3/ 5 ) to get -2 / 15

therefore,

( 2/3 + 3/ 5 ) +y = -2 / 15

[(10+9)/15] +y = -2 / 15

(19/15) +y = -2 / 15

(19+15y)/15 = -2 / 15

(19/15y) = (-2×15)/15

(19/15y) = (-2)

19 = -2 ×15y

19 = -30y

30y = -19

y = -19/30

Hence, -19/30 be added to( 2/3 + 3/ 5 ) to get -2 / 15
