Answer:
What makes a man a father?
Don’t let change and uncertainty hold you back.
Taking responsibility for his child’s safety, health, education, and quality of life. A father puts his child’s needs ahead of his own, gives the child every chance to grow up healthy and productive. He gives a lot of thought to what kind of a father he wants to be . . . . supportive, or abusive? present or absent? kind or harsh? And what kind of example he wants to set: Honest, or cheating? Gentle, or cruel? Sober, or alcoholic? Careful, or reckless? Successful in life, or a failure? All these considerations are very important in being a father.
A boy learns from observing his father how to treat women. A girl learns from her father how she deserves to be treated by men. Both are excellent reasons for treating his kids and their mother well, so the kids will grow up knowing how to be good people.
It’s a tremendous responsibility! Most new fathers are totally unprepared to take it on, and so they have a lot of learning and growing to do, working at staying ahead of his child’s growth and development so that he can make good decisions. His reward is the pride he can take in his grown sons and daughters, and how they treat him in his old age. It’s worth it!
