Answer:

1 The Allahabad Pillar Inscription is the most important source which throws a flood of light upon the history of Samudragupta. The inscription was engraved in Sanskrit verse on one of the Ashoka Pillars at Kausambi. The pillar was shifted laster by a Muslim king of Delhi to Allahabad, where it now stands on a fort.

2 The inscription is a panegyric praising Samudragupta and lists the political and military achievements of his reign including his expeditions to the south. It provides a unique snapshot of the Gupta empire and its neighbours and is the source of much of what is known of the geopolitical landscape of that era.

3. Faxian, Wade-Giles romanization Fa-hsien, original name Sehi, (flourished 399–414), Buddhist monk whose pilgrimage to India in 402 initiated Sino-Indian relations and whose writings give important information about early Buddhism.
