1. The Role of the painting "Bharatmata" in the awakening of nationalism in the 19th century :-
a) Setting up the idealism of motherhood in nationalism : Arabindranath Tagore, the creator of the famous painting, Bharatmata, wanted to spread nationalism among the youths and as well as all the Indians through his thought of motherhood. This painting made Indians to respect the nation as their own mother, and they took oath to fight for the independence of their beloved motherland.
b) Worshipping Bharatmata :- The revolutionary freedom fighters used to worship the painting of Bharatmata as Goddess before going to any mission. This painting actually inspired them a lot to be determined at their goals. Netaji started worshipping the painting for the first time.
The painting was named as "Bangamata". Later Sister Nivedita renamed it as "Bharatmata". The painting took an emotional corner in every person's heart in that era.
2. Charles Wilkins :-
- Being a British, Charles Wilkins contributed a lot in the enrichment of Bengali literature. He was a employee of British Printing press.
