Bacteria that is ingested within food is typically killed in the stomach. Our stomachs secrete a very strong acid known as gastric acid.

Answer:

See, most of the bacteria in our ingested foods get killed in the acid that we have in our stomach - Hydrochloric Acid [HCL]. It is a very effective acid with a very low pH value which makes it so acidic. Now, bacteria get killed because though they carry out some important processes in our body, but the bacteria present in our food are not always good. Many are there who are quite bad and cause infections [can be serious] when are not detected within time. This is why they are killed so that to avoid infections like Cholera, Typhoid etc.

Hope this helps.
