1)After a long day's work at a Montgomery department store, where she worked as a seamstress, Parks boarded the Cleveland Avenue bus for home. She took a seat in the first of several rows designated for "colored" passengers.
2)As a holiday to be celebrated around the world this weekend, Christmas is certainly overwrought. But put aside the trappings and the appeals to consume, I still like the essential message that will find its place in many a service this weekend: “Peace on Earth, goodwill toward men.”
