Coals are of 4 types:----------

Anthracite:- Its best quality of coal which contains 96% of carbon in it. It is used for heating, fuel for engines and furnaces.

Bituminous:- It has 65% of carbon in it. It is also called black ignite. it is used for manufacturing fuels such as coke and coal tar.

Lignite:- It has about 38% of coal in it. It is used for power generation and industrial fuel.

Peat:- It has lowest percentage of carobon in it. It is also used as an industrial fuel.
