1. Series combination is used to decrase the current flow ,because in series combination the magnitude of resistance increases ,therefore the flow of current is decreased..

2. H = \frac{V^{2} }{R}*T.    H = 100J , T = 1s , R = 42Ω

    V^{2} = \frac{H*R}{T}    

      V^{2}  =  \frac{100 * 42}{1} = 4200

   V = \sqrt{4200}

   V = 64.8Ω  = 65Ω .
