Answer:

1.  Landform, Soil and Climate influence the type and distribution of natural vegetation. Therefore, option (d) is correct.

2. Cultivated crops is common in fertile level land. Therefore, option (d) is correct.

Explanation:

The nature and growth of vegetation is influenced by four major factors. Climate, Landform, soils and man.

  • The most important factors are temperature and rainfall. The proper balance must be maintained between these two for plants to grow well. Temperature and rainfall affects the types, density of the plant cover and abundance of plant species. Sunlight also affects the growth of plants. Branches and leaves of plant grow towards sunlight.
  • If the landforms are steep slopes, which have rapid run-off, have less dense vegetation. Since highlands induce precipitation and the windward side of highlands more rain falls which supports dense vegetation.
  • A soil retains water supports denser vegetation. The types of plants depends upon the types of soils. For example: oil palms grow well on the acidic soils while mangroves thrives on the waterlogged solid.

As we discussed land affects the natural vegetation directly and indirectly. We cannot expect the same type of vegetation in dry and wet regions or in mountainous, plateau, plain areas. The fertile level land is generally devoted to grow cultivated crops and agriculture. The rippled and rough areas where  woodlands and grassland develop and provide home to a variety of wildlife.
