Answer:

The orbital 1p and 3f is not possible.

This is because, 1p signifies p - orbital in the First Shell ( K ) which is not possible. Since, Hydrogen and Helium only fill up the s - orbital completely. So 1p is not possible.

Similarly, 3f is not possible because in the 3rd shell only the d - orbitals are filled completely. This is because 3rd shell can have only 18 electrons. So, the arrangement would be s = 2, p = 6, d = 10. Hence we get 18. So there is no space for 3f orbital.

So 3f is not possible.

This is the required answer.

mdjahirulislam729: 4d orbitals are possible or not ?
Anonymous: 4d orbitals exist. :)
Steph0303: Well in 4th shell are possible, So s,p,d,f exist :)
mdjahirulislam729: thanks for your answer.
Steph0303: Welcome :)

1. 1p

Here, n = 1 and l = p = 1

The value of l is always one less than n.

But here, n = p = 1.

So , 1p doesn't exist.

2. 3f

Here, n = 3 and l = f = 3

The value of l is always one less than n.

But here, n = l.

So, 3f also doesn't exist.

3. 4f

Here, n = 4 and l = f = 3

Here, l is less than n.

Hence 4f exist.
